When to go black and white?

When to go black and white?

I shoot a lot of black and white images. There is a transcendent quality that makes you feel like you are in a different kind of time. Composition, lights, and darks, foreground-background relationships become magnified in importance. Color images can hide a lot of bad photography. Don’t get me wrong I love color images. Part of seeing photographically is knowing if your subject might look better in black and white rather than in color? Then this decision becomes “what do you base this on?  If you have no clue and would like to learn more I teach aesthetics and technique in my private online photography lessons.  This was shot in Corpus Christi, 2019
